2nd Annual
Nick Rosenow Memorial Tractor Ride

The Second Annual Kenneth "Nick" Rosenow Memorial Tractor Ride was held on Saturday, June 11, 2011, a day of great weather, great friends and great memories.

52 tractors arrived at Carstens Farm that morning to start their day with coffee and rolls provided by Nick's family.  At 9:00, they all loaded up and began their journey.  With Nick's grandsons, Nick Rosenow and Clint Robinson, leading the way, they turned north out of the driveway of Carstens Farm and headed towards M-16.

Coming up to M-16 South of Shelby

Traveling east on Highway M-16 through Shelby and Tennant, they enjoyed waving to the people who gathered along the way on porches, streets and county roads.  As one person later said, there is just something about seeing the old tractors go by that makes people smile.

At Highway 44, with a Shelby County Sheriff's Deputy helping to slow down the traffic to make it safe for the drivers, the tractors turned west and made their way to Portsmouth.  At Highway 191, they turned south and headed to Persia where they had a short break to stretch their legs before loading up again and heading to Neola.

At Neola, they turned and went to Arrowhead Park where they enjoyed a lunch which was provided by the Nick Rosenow family.

After lunch, Nick's son, Rod Rosenow took over the lead and led the tractors around the lake before heading back to Highway 191.  Outside of Neola, they took Highway 83 (Tamarack Road) through Minden and arrived back at Carstens Farm about 3 p.m.

It was a great day. The weather was perfect, and everyone had a great time.

Carstens Farm would like to thank the Nick Rosenow family for hosting this event again this year and hope to continue this new tradition next year.

We'd also like to thank all of those who participated in this ride.  We look forward to seeing all of you at the Farm soon.
