President Mel Hursey presented the Shelby Softball League with a check in the amount of $250 for their efforts.
On May 18, 2009, members of the Shelby Softball League picked up sticks at Carstens Farm. After a long winter, there were many sticks and branches that needed to be picked up before the mowers could be turned loose at the Farm. The kids had a lot of fun and made quick work of getting the sticks and branches picked up and handed over to Roger Heilig to be put into the shredder which was loaned to the Farm by the City of Shelby.
A donation of $250 was given by Carstens Farm to the Shelby Softball League to help support the girls’ softball team. The time and effort spent picking up sticks and helping to clean up the Farm was very much appreciated.
Carstens President Mel Hursey commented, “Carstens Farm is proud to be able to help support the girls in the Shelby Softball League. We are fortunate to receive volunteer help and monetary support from the community, and this is one way in which we can give back to the community.”
