2010 Quilt Raffle

Congratulations to Max Klindt!

Max Klindt of Avoca, Iowa was the lucky winner of the 2010 Quilt Raffle at Carstens Farm.

To the right is a picture of Max and his daughter pointing to the block that Max's wife, Phyllis, donated.  Sadly, Phyllis recently passed away, so this quilt had very special meaning to Max and his family.

This was the second year for the Quilt Raffle, and again, it drew a lot of attention.  Countless hours go into this project by the women who donate the blocks and by Jan Hursey and Marilyn Evans who organize this project, collect the blocks, piece the blocks together and then hand-quilt it.  Many thanks to them.

Special thanks to the following people for donating quilt blocks:

Leona Barker
Kathy Barrett
Betty Bladt
Jackie Blum
Patty Blum
Dianne Book
Marlene Christensen
Nancy Collins

Thank you to the area businesses who helped to promote this project and to sell raffle tickets.  Our gratitude to the Shelby County State Bank in Shelby, Iowa, for displaying the quilt.

We'd also like to extend our thanks to all who supported the quilt raffle in any way, especially to those of you who displayed your quilts and quilted projects at the Quilt Show.  Be sure to check out the 2010 Quilt Show page on this site.

Plans are being made for the 2011 Quilt Show and Quilt Raffle.  Whether you've previously displayed quilts or quilt projects at Carstens Farm or whether this would be your first time, please consider bringing your quilts or quilt projects to the 2011 Show.
